It’s been a little over a week and I still can’t believe it!
I am so thankful and excited to share that I have been cast as Zerlina in Mozart’s opera, Don Giovanni!
I can’t emphasize enough how much hard work went into this audition and I have endless thanks to give to my voice professor and friends for their guidance and support throughout the whole process. I’ve never been involved in an opera before and wasn’t entirely sure what to expect… my first opera scene was only a few months ago! I’m in absolute shock that my first time out the gate went so well and I couldn’t be happier.
(Not to mention – my bf was cast as Don Giovanni + we get to sing the duet together. *eeek*)
If this process has proven anything to me, it’s that with hard work, you can achieve anything.
Watch the entire opera, learn your character, put in the extra hours, and be as prepared as possible. The more prepared you are, the better. Whether or not that means learning both of your character’s arias, learning a duet, understanding + being able to convey what you’re singing, understanding the opera in full… do it.
I am super excited (and anxious!) to get to work and sincerely cannot wait to document my experience learning and performing this role.
Thank you so much for reading!
